Hi everyone,
I have a problem with Microsoft Defender still running in the background even though I’ve deployed ESET Endpoint Security and configured Defender to be turned off via Intune.
Here’s what I’ve done so far in Intune:
Windows Components > Microsoft Defender Antivirus
→ Turn off Microsoft Defender Antivirus = Enabled
Windows Components > Microsoft Defender Antivirus > Real-time Protection
→ Turn off real-time protection = Enabled
Despite these settings, I can still see Windows Defender ATP processes running in Task Manager. I’ve had to limit their CPU usage to 5%, because previously they were consuming up to 80%.
The devices are hybrid Azure AD joined, and our company uses ESET XDR, so we want to completely disable Defender ATP to avoid conflicts and unnecessary resource usage.
Question: How can I fully disable or remove Microsoft Defender ATP on hybrid-joined Windows devices when using another XDR solution such as ESET Endpoint Security?
Any guidance or recommended configuration would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Marcin
