Google Optimize

Important

  • To Start using Clarity, you must finish the Setup process.
  • To start using Google Optimize, you must setup Google Optimize and create an experiment.
  • Google Optimize is available to all users by default.

With Clarity's new support for Google Optimize (GO), you can seamlessly interact between the two platforms. Clarity automatically detects if your project is running active Google Optimize experiments. When there is at least one Google Optimize experiment session, Clarity will enable the integration for you.

Filter Recordings by Optimize Experiment ID and Variants

  1. Once Google Optimize is enabled in Clarity, navigate to Recordings -> Filters -> Experiments -> Google Optimize. Go to filters and select Google optimize.
  2. Filter your experiment sessions by selecting one experiment ID at a time from the drop-down. Select the experiment ID. If you're unsure of the experiment ID, select Learn more that appears above the drop-down. Select learn more to find the experiment ID.
  3. Select one or multiple variants. Select variant ID.
  4. Select Apply to start viewing the filtered recordings. Select apply to view the filters.
  5. On a recording, select More details to view Experiment ID, variant ID, and user ID. Select more details on a recording.

Filter Heatmaps by Optimize Experiment ID and Variant ID

  1. Once Google Optimize is enabled in Clarity, navigate to Heatmaps -> Filters -> Experiments -> Google Optimize. Go to filters and select Google optimize in heatmaps filters.

  2. Filter your experiment sessions by selecting one experiment ID at a time from the drop-down. Select the experiment ID in heatmaps filters. If you're unsure of the experiment ID, select Learn more that appears above the drop-down. Select learn more to find the experiment ID in heatmaps.

  3. Select one or multiple variants. Select variant ID for Heatmaps.

  4. Select Apply to start viewing the filtered heatmaps. Select apply to view the filters in heatmaps.

Compare Heatmaps with Different Experiment ID and Variant ID.

You can also compare Heatmaps by selecting a different variant in filters.

  1. Navigate to Heatmaps. Choose a URL and select Compare. Select url and compare.
  2. Go to Filters -> Experiments -> Google Optimize for both the heatmaps.
  3. Start comparing heatmaps by selecting different experiment IDs and Variant IDs for each heatmap. Go to filters and select Google optimize for both heatmaps.

Opt-out of Google Optimize

Once Google Optimize is enabled, you can disable the integration to stop Clarity from obtaining Google Optimize experiment data from your site.

  1. Navigate to Settings -> Setup.
  2. Toggle to disable Google Optimize. Open overview in settings.
