Microsoft ASP.NET Speech Controls Stand-alone Installation

This document describes the steps to install Microsoft ASP.NET Speech Controls on a Web server using the Speech Control stand-alone installer. The stand-alone installer enables users to install Speech Controls without installing any additional components provided with the Microsoft Speech Application SDK Version 1.1 (SASDK).

Requirements for Installing Speech Controls

Before installing Speech Controls, ensure that the following software is installed on the target computer:

  • The latest service pack for the target computer's operating system
  • Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

To prepare a computer for installing Speech Controls:

  1. Install the latest service pack for the operating system from Microsoft Windows Update.
  2. Install Internet Information Services (IIS). For information on installing IIS, please refer to the operating system's help documentation.
  3. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. To run this setup, go to Microsoft Windows Update, download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and then download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.

Note   If using Windows Server 2003, install ASP.NET from Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel and enable it. For detailed ASP.NET installation instructions, please refer to the Windows Server 2003 Help Documentation. There is no need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 because it a part of the operating system. It is, however, necessary to install Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 1 after installing ASP.NET.

Installing Speech Controls

Following are the steps for installing the stand-alone version of Speech Controls.

To install Speech Controls:

  1. Insert the SASDK Version 1.1 CD into the CD drive.
  2. Open My Computer, right-click the CD drive icon, and then click Explore.
  3. Double-click the directory labeled Redistributable Installers to open it.
  4. Double-click the directory labeled ASP.NET Speech Controls to open it.
  5. Double-click setup.exe to open ASP.NET Speech Controls Setup.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete setup.
