How to change the audience and type of a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Portal

This article provides the steps to use the Manage Dynamics 365 Instance option to change to a different portal audience and type of a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Portal.

Symptoms

After you have configured a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Portal, the option to change the Portal Audience is disabled on the Portal Details page.

Cause

This option cannot be changed on the Portal Details page.

Resolution

You can change to a different portal audience and type by using the Manage Dynamics 365 Instance option:

  1. Go to the Dynamics 365 Administration Center, and then select the Applications tab.
  2. Select the application row for your Portal Add-On, and then select Manage.
  3. Select Manage Dynamics 365 Instance.
  4. Select Update Dynamics 365 instance.
  5. Use the options that appear to change the Portal Audience or portal type.
