Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Mail Merge fails on large marketing lists

Applies to:   Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011
Original KB number:   2733121

When attempting to perform a mail merge in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 on a large amount of records, such as a large group of Contacts in a Marketing List, Microsoft Office Word prematurely closes after clicking OK in the Mail Merge Recipients window.

Microsoft Office Word uses an internal queue to handle incoming mail merge items. However, when this queue becomes overloaded, it can cause Word to crash unexpectedly.

Increase the UserPostMessageLimit registry entry on the machine performing the mail merge.
