Hi,

a) From when are you facing this issue?

b) Was it working earlier?

c) Did you update all the drivers on your computer?

Check to see if you have a F Lock Key in the upper right-hand side of your Keyboard.

Try with another keyboard.

I would suggest you to download and run the HotFix in the below link to resolve the issue with the function keys and the keyboard shortcuts:

You need to click on the "View and request hotfix downloads" on the top of the page and fill up the info and then you will recive the hotfix and then install it and check

    I found an alternate solution.

There is an "F Lock" key near the top of my keyboard. When I pressed this key it toggled it ON. This fixed my issue!!! Apparently there are a series of 24 function keys given the "F Lock" key is either toggled ON or OFF.

Thanks for the post "the beardog" as I would not have been on the lookout for a key to change the settings.

    Cheers :)

    Alex

I figured out how to solve the function key problem (accidentally, too!)

    I have a dell 17" studio 1749 with windows 7 pro 64-bit

To solve this, goto the touch buttons above the keyboard (there is a settings one, mute, vol down, vol up, etc).

Click on the Settings button (that looks like 2 gears).

At the bottom, there should be a box that says "function key row".   The default setting is "multimedia key".   If you click on that, and switch it to "function key".

    BAM!! Problem solved!

I dont get why microsoft makes this stuff so much more complicated.  They are incompetent as ____ trying to resolve problems.    Maybe this is why their stock price is the same price as it was 10 years ago! :)  hahahahaha
