Using Switch Pro Controller on PC

Hi,

currently I'm trying to use my Swirch Pro Controller (original model from Nintendo) on my Laptop.

Here's the issue:

When I try to connect it by using Bluetooth, my Laptop can't find it.

So I tried to connect it by USB. Then Windows 11 detects it as "Pro Controller" but I'm getting no inputs.

Even when I'm starting the controller-calibration in Windows 11, Windows doesn't registery any inputs.

Any idea how to resolve this problem?

    Hi,

I investigated the problem further and discovered this:

When using the calibration tool of Steam, the controller is recognized and seems to work properly.

Then I used some online tools for controller testing and discovered, that in every tool the controller is recognized although

al of its buttons and analog sticks are getting pressed and pushed permantly and erratically by themselves.

When pressing the buttons by myself, this seems to get "overwhelmed" by the automated presses.

Something like this (only an example image):

    Hi,

I'm not sure that you correctly read my posting.

I already said, that I connected the controller by USB to my laptop.

I also noted, that Windows recognized the controller as "Pro Controller".

Everything you posted was useless and not helpful.

The problem is, that Windows recognizes the Pro Controller but it's not getting any

inputs from it, even in the calibration menu.

Good day, thanks for your question. If you are able to connect the controller using a cable, it might be within the pairing mode where you are encountering an issue as well and you may refer to the below.

Controller is not in pairing mode

    > Press and hold the small sync button on the top of the controller (this is next to the USB-C port) until the lights start flashing.

    > You may now also go to Windows Bluetooth settings and pair it.

    > If the sync button is not pressed, it will not show up for connectivity.

Controller might be connected on another device

    > If the controller is already paired to a Switch console or another device, it will not be recognized that it can be paired pair to PC.

    > If you are able to it connect via Bluetooth, then Windows might list the controller as a Pro Controller or it might also be listed as Input Device which will you will still be able to pair it from there.

This is the usual case for third-party controllers of non-Microsoft/Xbox controllers as it is not being detected as native hardware (even if an online tester or calibrator is used) and that is why users are resorting to playing games via Steam or resorting to BetterJoy to help out with regards to getting the controller to be recognized if the games being played are non-Steam.

Have you also checked the links that was provided? Windows will not read the Switch Pro controller as a native hardware with regards to calibration and therefore you will either go by Steam or by a third party app for this.

    > For Steam (Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Calibrate) if you want detailed joystick calibration.

    > Some third party app or tool like BetterJoy also allow deep calibration for non-Steam games.
