Word 2021 problems

Why can't I edit word 2021 documents, view the backstage word (file - options) or customise the word ribbon. When clicking file-options word files just close.

WPS office works correctly with word files but not microsoft word 2021 itself.

Office repair does not help

All the rest of office 2021 pro plus (click to run) works properly.

No error message or screenshots are given for these issues.

    Hello,

Thank you for coming to the forum.

I am sorry about the challenge you are facing. A lot of the time the issues like these is caused by conflicts, it could be (not saying for certain) that the WPS is causing a conflict with the word.

Here is what you should try: Try and launch the Word in safemode and see if it works

Right-click the Start button (lower-left corner) in Windows, and click Run. Alternatively, you can press the Windows logo key and the R key on your keyboard. In the Run box, type

    winword /safe, and click OK.

If it opens > Click File > Open and browse to a file and use it for some time. If there is no crash of the app. Then the problem could be an add-in causing this. So you may have to go through the add-ins in Word and disable some of it.

Or, remove the WPS (you can install it back if you want), then do an online repair on the Office 2021 and use Office as it is and give a reply

    Office Online Repair Steps

    1. Right Click on Start > Select Installed Apps or Apps and Features
    2. Scroll down until you see Microsoft 365 Apps (or your office version)
    3. Click the three buttons beside the Microsoft 365 Apps (or your office version)
    4. Select Modify
    5. Click Online Repair (this will take a while to be done)
    6. Restart the device
