PC Black screen while playing games

Hello,

I have been using my PC for over 4 years now. Recently, I can say a few months ago, I suddenly started noticing that my PC gets a completely black screen whenever I play games that use my GPU in any meaningful amount. I checked and it doesn't overheat. I sometimes also get a green screen of death whenever I just open my computer, and sometimes also "windows failed to boot".

My specs are:

CPU: I7-13700KF

GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070

Motherboard: ROG STRIX B760-F

32GB DDR5 RAM
Windows alongside all drivers are installed on an SSD.

I have looked at Event Viewer, and I could find a lot of errors. They say something along the lines of:

"The GameInput Service service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 1000 milliseconds: Restart the service."

"The GameInput Service service terminated with the following error:

The compound file GameInput Service was produced with a newer version of storage."

"The GameInput Service service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 2 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 1000 milliseconds: Restart the service."

"The GameInput Service service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 6 time(s)."

I will attach the minidump file aswell. (I could only find one file in the minidump folder)

Thank you.

Hello Kenoby, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with black screen issues while gaming, it really breaks the immersion and enjoyment. If you're running into this, here are a couple of things that might help smooth out your experience.

First, make sure your Windows and GPU drivers are fully updated. You can grab the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA’s official site. Also, since you're using an ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F motherboard, it’s a good idea to check for chipset and BIOS updates from ASUS as well. These updates often include stability improvements that can prevent crashes during gameplay.

    Hope this helps

    Kind regards,

    John Oli
