Hello Kathy Keating,
I understand your situation - pressing PrtScn now opens the Snipping Tool toolbar by default, instead of just copying the whole screen to the clipboard the way Windows 10 used to.
The good news is that Microsoft did keep a setting to switch it back to the classic behavior. To restore it, open Settings with Windows key + I, go to Accessibility on the left, scroll down to Keyboard, and turn off the toggle labeled "Use the Print screen key to open screen capture." After that, PrtScn will go straight back to copying the full screen to your clipboard, so you can paste it into Word, Paint, or an email with Ctrl + V exactly like before — no more dimmed screen or toolbar getting in the way of what you're trying to capture.
If it's useful, Alt + PrtScn copies only the active window to the clipboard, and Windows key + PrtScn saves a full-screen capture straight to your Pictures > Screenshots folder.
