Why are Reservations not available for Ddsv5 instances on Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server?

I'm calculating the cost of Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server which uses Ddsv5 instance and notice that Reservations for this series and Dadsv5 instances are not available. Is there an explanation for this? Reservations are available for the older Ddsv4 and Dsv3 series but not for the newer series?

The same goes to Edsv5 and Eadsv5 series. No reservations available, only v4 and v3 series can purchase reservations.

As I understand, you want to enable reservation for Ddsv5 instances on Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server.

Thank you for your response. Any updates on this? The Azure Calculator says "1/3 year reserved option is not available for your instance selection." also in the Reservations page in Azure Portal doesn't show Ddsv5, Dadsv5, Edsv5, Eadsv5 instances for purchasing.

it's been a full year now, but Ddsv5/Dadsv5 are still not available as reservation. Even our CSAM cannot tell me when they will be available. Is there any timeline?

Thanks for your patience.

We have got the below reply from internal team:

Reservations are not available for V5 SKu’s yet.

Creating new reservations is a time-consuming process and it will not be available until next year.

We recommend you to raise feedback over Azure Feedback Channel for Azure Database for PostgreSQL so that concerned team could consider this feature depending on the importance and up-votes received.

Hello All - V5 RI's will be available from Jan 1st 2024 until then as mentioned by @
ShaktiSingh-MSFT please work with the respective account team to get the same V4 RI pricing for V5.

OP here. I noticed on the Release notes page that the reservations for v5 instances was just released in September 2024. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/flexible-server/release-notes#release-september-2024

I can confirm that I'm seeing v5 instances reservation available for purchase in the Azure Portal. It's been just over a year since I started this thread.

Reservation is still not available today according to Azure Portal.

Do you have a new deadline for us?

We contacted our account team and they were not able to help regarding the pricing.

So we are paying FULL charge for several months now, and it had an impact in our budget.

Ok. Thanks for getting back to me @ShaktiSingh-MSFT We already opened a support case to get v4 RI pricing. We created the ticket "Tue, Sep 12, 2023". Support wasn't able to help, they were no aware of the issue, and they didn't have access for this. I have the ticket number if you are interested. I you have any insight for our account manager, it will be greatly appreciated. They ask around in Microsoft, and they were not able to find information/help. Best regards,

Just to provide an update that Ddsv5 instances on Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server are still not available.

We continue to work to unblock this and add this SKUs for reservations but no ETA yet.
