ASP.NET and Angular throwing runtimeExecutable error

I am using the latest Visual Studio (2022 community). I am using the .NET and Angular template.

However upon running the app by pressing the green arrow in the toolbar I receive this error, however, the browser window still gets launched.

Visual Studio One or more errors have occurred. Failed to start the debug adapter. Additional information may be available in the output window. Unable to start browser: A browser installation could not be found on your system. Try installing it, or specify the absolute path to the browser in the runtimeExecutable parameter in the launch.json file.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

If you click the arrow besides Start and expand the dropdown list, will you see Web Browser option? Does it point to a specific web browser? If it doesn’t point to a specific web browser, please try to click it and click Select Web Browsers to select a web browser(make sure that the path is correct).

I would also suggest you close all web browser windows or reboot your machine then try to debug again.

Well when I click on the Web Browser option. I get the option for Firefox, Chrome and Edge. However selecting one of them throws me this error. When I clicked on the Select Web Browsers and tried to change the path to the browser. For example Firefox has C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe this is what I where I have Firefox installed and this the path that is automaticaly detected when creating new project.

However, when I create the API and Angular as seperate projects and start them everything works perfectly.

Hello @Filip Studeny,

Does checking or unchecking Tools > Options > Debugging > General > "Enable JavaScript debugging for ASP.NET (Chrome, Edge and IE)" option work?

Did you change any settings(like project properties, debugging settings)?

Does this issue also appear in a newly created project?

If you try to reinstall one of the web browsers will the error disappear?

I have tried Enabling and disabling JavaScript for debugging, but that still doesn't work.

I haven't change any settings and the issue still persists into a newly created project.

I have also tried reinstalling my web browsers and installing new ones but the problem is still the same.

Reinstalling Visual Studio and downgrading it to an older version also doesn't work.

Hello @Filip Studeny,

If you try to check the launch.json file in your project folder => \AngularApp\angularapp.client\.vscode, are the type and the name set correctly?

By default, the first one I think is type => edge, and name => localhost (Edge).

Besides, did you set any global launch settings(files) maybe?
