How to get AutoSave to save to the correct file path rather than a default file location on OneDrive.

AutoSave had been working fine until recently. Now when I open an Excel document, AutoSave is turned off. When I turn on AutoSave, it saves a duplicate to the "default local file location" which is [OneDrive/Documents]. When I change the "default local file location" using File/Options/Save this appears to just change the "default local file location" of all of my Excel files. How do I get AutoSave to save to the correct file path like it had been before? The correct file path is also on OneDrive.

    Are you using Microsoft 365 Apps?

    How did you open the Excel workbooks?

    I suggest you follow the instructions from article "How do I turn on AutoSave?", do not open files from File Explorer or recent files list via the Taskbar directly.

    • Go to File then Open.
    • Select your OneDrive cloud iconOneDrive personal, work or school account. Office Open dialog showing OneDrive folder
    • Choose your sub-folder location from the list that appears.
    • Select the file you need to open.

    If these steps do not work, I suggest you remove the OneDrive service, and then add OneDrive Service back to have a check.
