Word-MathType issues

While editing an equation using MathType in a Word document, all equations in the document disappeared and the MathType icon in the menu bar disappeared.   The equations are still there when I print the document.  How do I fix?

    MathType is discontinued and does not work with Word for Mac.

    You should replace your equations using the Equation feature built into Microsoft Word.

    Did you perhaps switch to another View?
