protected:

protected virtual void OnSelectedIndexChanging (System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewSelectEventArgs e);
abstract member OnSelectedIndexChanging : System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewSelectEventArgs -> unit
override this.OnSelectedIndexChanging : System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewSelectEventArgs -> unit
Protected Overridable Sub OnSelectedIndexChanging (e As ListViewSelectEventArgs)

Parameters

e
ListViewSelectEventArgs

The event data.

Exceptions

There is no handler for the SelectedIndexChanging event.

Remarks

The SelectedIndexChanging event is raised when an item's Select button is clicked, but before the ListView control handles the select operation. (A Select button is a button control whose CommandName property is set to "Select".) This enables you to perform a custom routine whenever this event occurs, such as canceling the selection operation.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Handling and Raising Events.

The OnSelectedIndexChanging method also enables derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors

When you override OnSelectedIndexChanging(ListViewSelectEventArgs) in a derived class, call the base class's OnSelectedIndexChanging(ListViewSelectEventArgs) method so that registered delegates receive the event.
