April 2025 announcements

This page provides the announcements for Microsoft Partner Center for April 2025.

Activity log retention limit notification

Starting May 1, 2025, we'll implement changes to our notification process for activity log retention limits. Activity logs continue to be limited to 800 records per subscription as per the existing policy. The key change is that we will no longer send email notifications when logs reach this limit before deletion.

  • Date: April 23, 2025
  • Workspace: Customers
  • Impacted audience: Cloud Solution Provider partners (indirect providers and direct bill) in all markets/countries/regions who use the Partner Center activity logs.

Details

  • Notification process change: Activity logs continue to be automatically deleted when they exceed their retention limit. But we no longer send email notifications before the log deletion occurs.
  • Export logs: Partners are encouraged to proactively export logs as .csv files before reaching the retention limit to preserve data for further analysis.

To learn more about the retention policy, see customer activity logs.

How deleting the activity log affects your subscriptions

Truncating the activity log doesn't affect:

  • Your subscription's status
  • Your customer service
  • Your subscription itself

It's a routine data management step that helps make space for new updates to your subscriptions, so the activity log stays up to date and works as expected.

Important

Starting May 1, 2025, you'll no longer receive email notifications from Partner Center before your activity logs are deleted. Previously, partners received notifications when logs reached their retention limit. As of May 1, 2025, logs continue to be deleted automatically upon reaching the retention limit, but do so without prior notification.

Benefits
  • Streamlined operations: Helps you continue to manage subscriptions without problems.
  • Enhanced compliance: Helps ensure adherence to Partner Center's data management policies.
Known limitations

You can't restore deleted logs after they're removed.

Next steps

  • Review current activity logs: Audit existing logs and export the ones nearing the retention limit.
  • Prepare for May 1, 2025: Train your team members on the new retention rules and ensure regular monitoring of logs.
  • Use export features: Export logs in CSV format for data preservation. For more information, contact Partner Center support

Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) partner attestation blocking changes

Microsoft is making blocking changes for net new customer orders.

  • Date: April 11, 2025
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: All indirect providers and direct bill partners using the current API, Partner Center UX, or MCA bulk attestation tool to attest that customers accepted the MCA.

Microsoft is making blocking changes for net new customer orders. Currently, indirect providers and direct bill partners can attest to the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) for their customers in three ways: using an API, using the Partner Center UX, or using the MCA bulk attestation tool. Beginning October 7, 2025, there will only be two ways the MCA can be accepted: through a new, enhanced partner attestation API or direct customer acceptance. The current API and the Partner Center UX will be retired on October 7, 2025. In addition, after May 7, 2025, the MCA bulk attestation tool will no longer perform bulk attestations and will have a read-only capability.

Microsoft runs on trust. Operating compliantly is essential to maintaining trust with our customers, and partners play an important role in ensuring compliance.

One of our key documents is the MCA. Microsoft requires proof (evidence) of an accepted MCA for customer purchases, which is currently either by direct customer acceptance or attestation by the partner on the customer's behalf. Ensuring customers review and accept the MCA is essential for upholding their terms.

The new enhanced attestation API streamlines the experience for partners by replacing the three existing methods (API, UX, and bulk attestation) with one. This change simplifies the attestation process, making it easier and more efficient for partners to manage customer agreements. Additionally, the enhanced API provides a more compliant and reliable way to capture and relay customer acceptance information, ensuring a smoother and more consistent experience for both partners and customers.

Beginning October 7, 2025, Microsoft will block orders for net new customer purchases, unless the customer directly accepted, or the partner attested using an enhanced API. Changes to the partner attestation process include:

  • A new, more compliant API-based attestation method

  • Retirement of the existing API-based partner attestation model

  • Removal of the UX- based attestation experience in Partner Center

The new API will be available in sandbox on April 11, 2025, for partners to begin integration and testing should they wish to continue using partner attestation. You can learn more about the change and API integration.

If partners don't integrate the new, enhanced API by October 7, 2025, their net new customers will need to directly accept the MCA through the Microsoft 365 admin center before placing an order. The existing API will be retired on October 7, 2025, and any attestations using the current API will fail. Sandbox testing for the existing API ends on the same date.

Partners who are using the current attestation process, or are having their customers directly accept the MCA, won't need to reaccept those MCAs after October 7, 2025. Only net new customers, for which you want to attest, will be impacted by the changes.

In addition, Microsoft is revising the MCA bulk attestation tool capability. On May 7, 2025, the bulk attestation capability will be retired, and the tool will be limited to read-only. The bulk tool will be retired in January 2026.

Updates for the April 1 NCE license-based price list

On April 1, 2025, the NCE license-based price list was published with incorrect pricing for Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales and Microsoft 365 Copilot for Service. April Price list to be republished shortly.

  • Date: April 3, 2025
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: Cloud Solution Provider partners (indirect providers and direct bill) in all markets/countries/regions.

On April 1, 2025, the NCE license-based price list was published. Partners should be aware of the following issues:

  • The April NCE license-based price list doesn't indicate the correct pricing for annual commitment monthly billing plans for Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales, and Microsoft 365 Copilot for Service. These prices are correctly reflected in the March price list.

  • We're republishing the April price list to reflect the correct pricing for the specified offers. Partners are notified in a Partner Center Announcement once the price list republishes.

  • Any purchases made before the pending April price list republish are honored at the price quoted from the current April price list. There are no exceptions for orders placed after the price list republish but quoted from the current price list.

  • The purchase price in the Partner Center catalog (UI and API) was updated to reflect the correct pricing at 2pm PST April 2, 2025. Purchases made after this time and before the price list republish are adjusted to the published list price. Credits for adjusted pro-rata charges are applied in a subsequent invoice.

Next steps

  • An announcement is made when the April price list republishes.
  • For more information about the expected pricing changes starting April 1, 2025, see our November announcement and our FAQ.

Monthly Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program update

Here's what's new for Solutions Partner designations, specializations, and other Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program offerings and benefits.

  • Date: April 2, 2025 (Updated April 7, 2025, April 8, 2025, and April 25, 2025)
  • Workspace: Membership
  • Impacted audience: Partners enrolled in the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program

We're introducing important capabilities, offers, and updates to improve the way partners can further differentiate their deep technical expertise across a set of priority scenarios with high customer demand. We added benefits for eligible Solutions Partner with certified software designations.

Available now

SMB path for Data & AI (Azure), Digital & App Innovation (Azure), Infrastructure (Azure) is available: On January 31, 2025, the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program introduced SMB paths for Solutions Partner designations in Data & AI (Azure), Digital & App Innovation (Azure), and Infrastructure (Azure). Sign in to Partner Center to see your qualification tracking and status in these three Azure solution areas.

European and Non-European version for Microsoft 365 and Teams Enterprise benefits: The Microsoft 365 Business Premium (no Teams), Microsoft 365 E3 (no Teams), Microsoft 365 E5 (no Teams), and Teams Enterprise product benefits are now available in two versions on Partner Center benefits.

  • EEA (European Economic Area) and Switzerland version
  • Non-EEA version

If the tenant for which the partner wants to activate the 5x5 cloud keys is located in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, select the EEA version of the product benefit in Partner Center. For tenants located outside these regions, select the non-EEA version of the product benefit.

Launch of the new Azure Specialization V.Next for Build AI Apps: As announced at Ignite, on March 21, 2025, we launched the new Azure Specialization V.Next offer for Build AI Applications with Azure. This offer is an alternative path option for qualified partners to meet the Module B audit requirement by using existing already-completed projects in the Azure Innovate (AI) partner-led program.

How does this work? Rather than requiring an audit, we use completed Azure Innovate Partner led engagements. Here are the program qualifications:

  • Partner is currently enrolled in one (1) Azure specialization
  • Partner must complete at least three (3) qualified Azure Innovate Partner-led engagements

Qualifications for Partner-led engagement eligibility:

  • Post-sales engagements only, no POV engagements
  • Size of engagement: Small, Medium, and Large only. No XS projects. They're excluded.
  • $300 per pillar per engagement: Pillars include Data Platform, AI Platform, and Application Platform (aligned AI Design Wins construct)
  • Module A is still a requirement. It needs to be in place to qualify for Module B.

For more information on how to capitalize on qualified work already completed in your AI partner-led program, see Azure Specialization V.Next Offer Partner Walking Deck and the Azure V.Next FAQ. Expect this offer to expand in FY26. To learn more about partner incentives, see the Azure Innovate Program.

Updates to Infrastructure and Database Migration to Microsoft Azure Specialization: We recently updated the performance and skilling requirements for the Infrastructure and Database Migration to Microsoft Azure specialization. In the past, partners needed to demonstrate experience with both Windows/Linux infrastructure and SQL/OSS databases. But customers prefer partners who excel in Azure cloud migrations. To address it, we revised the requirements to focus on either Windows or Linux and either SQL or OSS databases, aligning with recent audit updates. We also added the Azure Security Engineer Associate certification to the skilling requirements and increased the number of required certified individuals from three (3) to four (4) to emphasize the importance of security throughout the migration process. Lastly, to replace the expiring Azure Data Engineer Associate certificate, we added the Azure Database Administrator Associate certificate.

Renewals for the Training Services Partner Program: On April 5 2025, partners who are within their enrollment window have the opportunity to renew their TSP Designations. It's your chance to continue benefiting from our exclusive offers and support. For anyone whose renewal window is approaching later, don't worry. You can renew your designation when your time comes. Stay tuned and make sure to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to keep your partnership with us strong and thriving.

Removing Expiring Skilling Certification in Analytics, Data Warehouse Migration, and Migrate Enterprise Applications specializations and the Azure Expert MSP Program: The Azure Data Engineer Associate certificate expired on March 31, 2025. For the Analytics and DW Migrate specialization skilling requirements, the Fabric Data Engineer Associate certificate replaces the certification. For the Migrate Enterprise Apps specialization and Azure Expert Managed Services Provider, the Azure Data Engineer Associate is no longer required. Visit our Specializations Community site for the most current information.

The Azure Data Engineer Associate certification remains valid until March 31, 2026.

More benefits with Solutions Partner with certified software designations: Apply today to attain one of the seven Solutions Partner with certified software designations to qualify for top-tier benefits.

Certified software designations for solution areas (specifically, Azure and Security) or Industry AI, receive top-tier benefits in addition to their own set of benefits. All partners are encouraged to pursue at least one of the Azure-based certified software designations. Designations include Certified software for solution areas in Azure and Security; or Certified software for Industry AI designations; including Healthcare AI, Retail AI, Financial Services AI, Manufacturing AI, and Sustainability AI.

Microsoft is offering subsidies on a first-come/first-serve basis for assessments conducted by the Non-Microsoft auditor for qualification in these designations.

Note

Active partners currently nominating through the Azure partner-led offerings for ISVs, including Azure Migrate and Modernize and Azure Innovate, won't lose access to these incentives for the remainder of the fiscal year (through June 30, 2025).

The SMB path for Security Solutions Partner Designation is now available: The Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program recently introduced SMB paths for Security Solutions Partner designation. Now is the perfect time to start your preparations to qualify. For more information on Azure designations, see the SMB path for Security and the Solutions Partner for Security Designation walking deck.

What's coming

Skilling Changes for Solutions Partner designations (SPD): We're updating the skilling requirements for five different SPD.

  • For Business Applications, we're retiring three certifications and introducing a new optional certification (Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Customer Experience Analyst Associate) to meet skilling intermediate requirements. The retiring certifications remain valid for up to a year if completed before their retirement date.

  • For Data & AI, we're retiring two certifications and introducing a new optional certification (Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate) to meet skilling intermediate requirements. The retiring certifications remain valid for up to a year if completed before their retirement date.

  • For Modern Works, Infrastructure, and Digital & App Innovation, we're removing all certifications from the UI that retired more than a year ago.

Expect these changes to go live sometime in April.

Reminders

  • Announcement of new benefits: On January 22, 2025, Microsoft introduced more than 20 in-demand product licenses, including Microsoft 365 Copilot products, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and GitHub Enterprise. These new benefits are designed to help streamline tasks, enhance creativity, and drive efficiency across businesses. Partners can access these benefits when they go live, by purchasing partner benefits packages, Solutions Partner designations, or specializations. The new packages offer comprehensive support and advisory benefits, helping partners accelerate business growth, scale their operations, and stay updated with the latest offerings.

Process improvements to make renewals, upgrades easier in CSP

On April 1, 2025, Microsoft will launch new capabilities in Partner Center

  • Date: April 1, 2025 (Updated May 1, 2025 and May 5, 2025)
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: All Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners

CSP partners are the trusted advisors who unlock business outcomes for small and medium enterprise customers. As part of our ongoing commitment to investing in your success, we're sharing details on new capabilities available as of April 1, 2025 that help you manage your business with Microsoft and expand how you serve customers to meet their evolving business needs.

Supporting EA customer renewals to CSP

On April 1, we launched a new channel transfers interface in Partner Center that is built to facilitate a seamless renewal experience for expiring EA customers who choose to renew their per-user subscriptions with a CSP partner. This new interface is on the Channel transfers tab in the Customer workspace.

The new channel transfers experience enables partners to:

  • View their customers' EA per-user subscriptions and easily renew the subscriptions that are available in CSP.
  • Ensure that EA customers who have end of sale “with Teams” subscriptions (Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 with Teams and Office 365 E1, E3, and E5 with Teams) keep their Teams entitlements as they renew to CSP.
  • Renew EA per-user subscriptions that are within six months of expiration to CSP, as well as EA subscriptions that are in the post-expiration 90-day grace period. However, if the customer’s post-expiration 90-day grace period ends, the partner will no longer be able to see the customer’s EA subscriptions in the channel transfers user interface.

The new channel transfers interface is enabled for license-based, per-user subscriptions only. Partners will need to establish a reseller relationship with the customer before helping them renew from EA to CSP.

Note

Some customers whose EA expired might find themselves paying for monthly Extended Term service as they renew to CSP with the help of a partner. It's important for partners and Microsoft sellers to work proactively with customers whose EA expired to prevent or cancel Extended Term service billing. For more information, see the Extended Term service section in the Partner FAQ.

To get answers to your questions about the channel transfers experience, register for CSP Technical Training calls. For more information, see moving license-based EA customers to CSP.

Automating the support process for midterm upgrades

We're automating the cancellation and credit support process in Partner Center, enabling duplicate subscriptions resulting from midterm upgrades to more easily and quickly be processed after an upgrade to a higher-level SKU.

As of April 1, 2025, the AI assistant in Partner Center features a new support prompt for the cancellation of duplicate subscriptions after a midterm upgrade processed through Partner Center. Partners can follow the prompt guide to submit the information that the AI assistant needs to process their support ticket. AI assistant then confirms the supported upgrade path and processes the support ticket.

This new automation is expected to reduce the processing of support tickets for cancelation of redundant licenses to one day or less.

Find more details about the improved capability of the AI assistant on Microsoft Learn, in the FAQ and review this list to see supported midterm upgrade paths. Other upgrade paths will also be enabled in AI assistant by May 2025.

Note

AI assistant is currently available in English only.

Reminder: Standardizing the billing structure with a pricing update, pricing updates for Microsoft Teams Phone and Power BI

Starting on April 1, 2025, all new and renewing monthly billing plans for annual/triennial subscriptions will be priced 5% higher than the annual/triennial billing option for those subscription plans. Pricing updates for Microsoft Teams Phone and Power BI are effective April 1, 2025.

  • Date: April 1, 2025
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: All Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Partners

Standardizing the billing structure with a pricing update

As a reminder, starting April 1, 2025, Microsoft is standardizing the billing structure and introducing a pricing update for all products with per user monthly billing plans for annual and triennial term subscriptions. All new and renewing monthly billing plans for annual and triennial per user subscriptions are priced 5% higher than the annual billing plan option for annual and triennial subscriptions.* This price update applies across Buy Online, CSP, and MCA-E for all segments. At this time, there is no pricing change to month-to-month or to annual term subscriptions with upfront payment.

Customer can elect to change their billing plan from monthly to upfront billing, priced 5% lower than the updated monthly billing option, at their renewal date.* Customers on end-of-sale (EOS) and EOS with Conversion offers, such as Microsoft 365 E3/E5 and Office 365 E1/E3/E5 suites with Teams, can schedule a change to edit the billing frequencies for their annual subscriptions effective at renewal.

The pricing update for monthly billing for annual term subscription commitments is reflected in the March 1 NCE license-based price list preview, republished on March 20, 2025. EOS and EOS with Conversion Offer pricing updates are reflected in the April EOS price list, available on April 1.

Trials continue to default to renewing into annual subscriptions with monthly billing. But partners can specify values, such as license quantity, term, and billing frequency, for paid subscriptions that their trial purchases renew into starting on April 1, 2025. Partners can also specify if they don't want their trial to autorenew.

Note

For a customer with Microsoft 365/Office 365 Enterprise suites with Teams to maintain their subscription of active licenses to those EOS SKUs, partners must manage the renewals by enabling auto-renew or scheduling the change. Partners can no longer purchase new EOS SKUs for CSP customers or make edits to term duration.

Pricing updates for Microsoft Teams Phone and Power BI

Microsoft is updating the pricing for Microsoft Teams Phone Standard, Power BI Pro, and Power BI Premium Per User starting on April 1, 2025 for new and existing customers upon renewal. For more information, see our November announcement. At this time, there are no further pricing changes to customers who purchase Power BI Pro and Teams Phone licenses by way of the Microsoft 365 and Office 365 E5 suites.

*There might be slight variations in price due to exchange rate fluctuations, local pricing policies, and rounding rules.

**For more information on in-scope products, see the FAQ.
