Intune Update Ring Not Updating Device to Windows11 - Possible GPO Issue?

I'm trying to upgrade a test device from Windows 10 to Windows 11 via Intune.

I created policies to enable telemetry data and health monitoring on the device as well as created an update ring policy AND a feature update policy for the device.

From Intune's perspective, everything is showing a green check/success.

Endpoint analytics also lists the test device as Capable, for its "Windows 11 readiness state"

From the device's perspective though, it doesn't look like it's even trying to pick up the update... looking at the windowsupdate.log file, it looks like the only updates the machine is trying to pull down are for Windows Defender.

When I look at "View configured update policies" from the Windows update page of the test machine, there are a bunch listed with many of them showing a type of "Mobile Device Management", but a handful have a type of Group Policy:

  • Disable automatic updates
  • Get updates for other Microsoft products
  • Disable check for updates by user
  • Set Automatic Update options

Is it possible that one of these settings is preventing the update?
Is there something else I might be missing?

Thanks in advance!

@user_zero, Thanks for posting in Q&A. When group policy with the same setting is set for windows update, it won’t matter what update policy you configure in Intune, the applied policy and the observed behavior is still going to be whatever is configured via Active Directory.

Please remove the GPO from the devices to see if it can work.

Hope the above information can help.
