Why when setting up a new computer is it sop difficult to not have to have the lock screen & not have to enter a password or pen each time you turn your computer on?

What in my computer to so sensitive that needs so much protection & who am I protecting it from?

Found someone that showed me how to added things in the Registry to not have the Lock Screen, really?, this is what we have to do to not have it?

Then, in trying to eliminate the need to enter a password or pen on start up I found many ways the never work on my computer or don't get same options & end up creating a second duplicate user of same name with different password & see both when starting up computer. Finally after many tries got rid of second user.

Wouldn't it be great when setting up a new computer it ask if we need or want a lock screen, and if we need or want a sign on password & pen!

This process along is the worst thing about getting a new computer

Here is the standard method. Please follow closely, especially step 3.

If for any reason it doesn't work, tell me which step you ran into difficulty, or what happened. There are a few odd scenarios out there, happy to tackle it if you do run into that, but typically the standard method works, as long as you don't make mistake at step 3.

    1. First, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign in options, scroll down to mid page, under "Additional Settings",Make sure "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello Sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended). " is turned OFF.
    2. Type netplwiz in the search on the taskbar and press enter, select your user, if the "user must enter a username and password to use this computer" box is NOT checked, please check it , click Apply. Then uncheck the box and click Apply. This will bring up a pop up window.
    3. On this pop up window, this is where most mistakes happen. Very important, erase the username that's prefilled. Username should be your entire email address for your Microsoft account. Password is your Microsoft account's password. Any typo here can prevent it from working. Then click OK. And back to the netplwiz page, click OK.
    4. Restart the computer now and it should work.

Setting up a new computer often involves security features like lock screens and password requirements to protect user data and privacy. These measures are in place to safeguard against unauthorized access, which can be particularly important if the device contains sensitive information or is connected to networks that could be vulnerable to attacks.

The default settings in Windows prioritize security, which is why users may find it challenging to bypass these features. While it might seem cumbersome, these protections are designed to mitigate risks from various threats, including unauthorized access by other individuals or malware.

For those looking to disable the lock screen or avoid entering a password, there are methods available, such as modifying registry settings. However, these methods can be complex and may not always yield the desired results, as you've experienced with duplicate user accounts. It's important to follow the correct procedures to avoid complications.

In an ideal world, setup processes would allow users to choose their security preferences upfront, including whether they want a lock screen or password. However, the current design emphasizes security to protect users from potential threats.

If you're looking for more streamlined options regarding login and security settings, consider exploring the Windows passwordless experience, which allows for alternatives like Windows Hello or FIDO2 security keys, reducing reliance on traditional passwords.
