Excel - SharePoint

Question

Upload Failed You'll need to check out the file before we can upload changes

I get this error when trying to open a file from SharePoint in Excel.

Can anyone assist, please?

Thanks for the updates, as for the issue, to check if the issue is related to Office cached files, I would suggest you File > Open > Files Needing Attention to check if you have any files listed here, if you get any files, please resolve these files by save a copy or discard changes. Then go to  File> Options> Save> Cache Settings, Select Delete cached files. Then restart your PC, reopen the file from SharePoint and check the result.

If suggestion above doesn’t help, may I know does the issue happen if you open other workbooks in the library? what if you open workbooks from other libraries? Does the same issue happen?

Hi Clark,

I did a check out in Sharepoint now, and then clicked on open in Excel for the same file. When it loaded in Excel the same error was present.

This has never happened before.

I am running Excel version

Please assist if possible.

I go through the post carefully, based on the error message, the library where save the file could enable Require Checkout files, I would suggest you locate the files from SharePoint libraries, Check out the file before editing and check the result, after finish editing, you may check in the file so that other users can edit the file.
