Server Connection Error

We have just changed to use mail.protection.outlook.com for SMTP. However, some of our sites are unable to scan to email from their TOSHIBA eStudio printers.

SMTP on the printer is set to company-co-uk.mail.protection.outlook.com using port 25, StartTLS and authentication off.

Unfortunately, when they scan to email, the email fails with Server Connection Error, unless you turn off authentication, then you get Logon Error.

I have tried with a combination of using authentication on or off, port 25 or 587 etc. but can't get scan to email to work.

There is a connector in Exchange, and other sites work fine.

There are other sites with these settings that work with no problems. The difference between working sites and non working sites, is that all the non working sites are using 4G routers on the Vodaphone network.

Vodaphone say they don't block port 25 traffic.

I have checked this site; https://sterlingit.com.au/how-to-setup-smtp-server-to-send-email-using-microsoft-office-365-connector-with-exchange-online/ and everything seems to be configured okay.

Is there any other setting on the printer, router that I can try or is there something that needs to be done for the connector to work for 4G connections? This is getting very frustrating.

Thank you for any help.

Hi thank you for your help.

It turns out the IP address from Vodafone is being  blocked by spamhaus.

Setup a O365 account with email and used for email settings on the printer.

This seems to have got around the problem.

Thanks again.

Thank you for that. I will try on Monday, unfortunately they are remote sites and the users have gone home, so I can't test it until they are back.

Thanks again, will let you know.
