    Hi @Akmal

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding your issue, the root cause of this error is that Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. Consequently, your system is no longer receiving the critical security patches required to connect to modern update servers or to protect your data from emerging cyber threats.

To ensure your digital safety and system stability, I strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 (or Windows 10, depending on your hardware compatibility). Here is why this transition is essential:

    • Continuous Security: Modern Windows versions receive daily security updates to defend against ransomware, malware, and phishing attacks that Windows 7 can no longer stop.
    • Software Support: Most modern browsers (Chrome/Edge) and essential applications (like Microsoft 365 or banking apps) have ceased support for Windows 7. An upgrade ensures your software remains functional and secure.
    • Enhanced Performance: Newer operating systems are optimized for speed and reliability, providing a much smoother user experience.

Continuing to use Windows 7 poses a significant risk to your personal information. I would be happy to assist you in checking your hardware compatibility if needed.

I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

To update Windows 7, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Windows Update Settings: Ensure that your Windows Update settings are configured to check for updates automatically. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Windows Update > Change settings and selecting the appropriate options.
    2. Run Windows Update: Open Control Panel > Windows Update and click on Check for updates. This will prompt Windows to search for any available updates.
    3. Troubleshoot Windows Update Errors: If you encounter the error code "WindowsUpdate_80072EFE", it may indicate a network issue or a problem with the Windows Update service. You can try the following:
      • Ensure your internet connection is stable.
      • Restart your computer and try checking for updates again.
      • Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter, which can help identify and fix issues related to Windows Update.
    4. Manually Download Updates: If automatic updates are not working, you can manually download and install the Windows Update Agent from the Microsoft Download Center. This may help resolve issues with the update process.
    5. Check for Specific Updates: If you are looking for specific updates, such as KB971033, you can check if it is installed by following these steps:
      • Open Installed Updates in Control Panel and look for Update for Microsoft Windows (KB971033).
      • Alternatively, you can use the command prompt to check for installed updates.

If the problem persists, consider looking for solutions to common Windows Update errors, as there may be additional steps required to resolve the issue.
