Exported pdfs are opening in Word Online

Occasionally I'll have a document that I also want saved as a pdf. To do this, I go to "Save As" and choose to save it as a pdf. I also keep the "open file after publishing" box checked as well. Usually these pdfs would open in Adobe Reader, but now all of a sudden they're opening as a new tab in Firefox. Why is this and how do I go about changing it back to the way it was before?

Thanks in advance.

    Not in my browser, no.

When exporting a file, Office has the option to open the file (in the appropriate program, so in this case, Adobe Reader) after you save it so that you can view it. But instead of the pdf file opening in Adobe Reader, a new tab would be opened and I would be able to view the pdf file in Office Online.

No, I don't think it was supposed to be happening.

Basically: I would have a document open (that is saved as a .docx). Then I would save a copy of the document as a pdf (by going to 'save as'). After saving the document as a pdf, a new tab in my browser would open displaying the pdf in Office Online. (Normally, after saving a copy of the document as a pdf, Adobe Reader would open. This is what's happening again now, thankfully.)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it didn't stop the issue though. :/

See which application is selected as the default for PDFs in the Preferences dialog box in Firefox. That might give you a clue.

Right click on a pdf file in File Explorer and then select Open with and set Adobe Reader as the default application for opening such files.
