Paragraph formatting within an interactive form field

Can I control the behavior of an entry field within a MS Word form so that it follows a numbering/bullet format?

This is the idea:

Has anyone attempted this with MS Word?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

If the "entry field" is a rich text content control, it can use the same kind of list numbering as in regular (non-entry) text. That numbering is controlled by paragraph styles and their associated list level (https://shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/numbering20072010.html). Note that one of the formats you can choose for the third level is a solid bullet.

In the Content Control Properties dialog of the rich text content control, you can specify the style that will be automatically applied to the first paragraph that the user types into the content control. Unfortunately, my testing shows that the numbering that's assigned to the style isn't automatically applied; I had to click the Multilevel List button on the Home tab and click the desired numbering scheme in that gallery to force it to appear. After that, the TAB and Shift-TAB level changes worked as in regular text.

Just to be sure of the most likely cause of the Tab behavior...

Go to File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat As You Type, and check the box for the option "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" if it isn't already checked.

Use a Rich Text Content Control as then, the appropriate style can be applied to each paragraph that is entered into such a control
