Hi! Can you check your proofing language? In the bottom left of the document next to Page number, it will say a language. Is that language English?
There's a slight bug about how the transcription feature gets greyed out if your proofing language isn’t English.
While we're working on it, here's a workaround. Keep in mind that this will enable the Transcribe button but transcription is still only available in English for the time being.
• Create a new document via word.office.com
• In the bottom-left part of the screen, click on proofing language
• Select English (US)
• Type something in English
• Refresh document
• The Transcribe option should be enabled now.
Let me know if this doesn't work. What this will do, in addition to enabling transcription, is set the grammar/spelling checker language to English for that document, which may not be optimal depending on what you want. We’re working for support for more languages in the future.
