Unable to upload file for automated transcription

Hey,

so I wanted to try the new "Transcribe" feature in Word an so far I have only been able to dictate speech directly via my microphone. When I click on "Dictate" the drop down menu with "Transcribe" opens but it is just gray and not clickable for me.

What is the deal here? Is this feature disabled based on geolocation (ger) or are there different Office 365 versions (using a license via my university) and I happen to be using the one without this feature?

The support page is not helping at this point (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/transcribe-your-recordings-7fc2efec-245e-45f0-b053-2a97531ecf57).

Hi! Can you check your proofing language? In the bottom left of the document next to Page number, it will say a language. Is that language English?

There's a slight bug about how the transcription feature gets greyed out if your proofing language isn’t English.  

While we're working on it, here's a workaround. Keep in mind that this will enable the Transcribe button but transcription is still only available in English for the time being.

• Create a new document via word.office.com

• In the bottom-left part of the screen, click on proofing language 

• Select English (US)

• Type something in English

• Refresh document

• The Transcribe option should be enabled now.

Let me know if this doesn't work. What this will do, in addition to enabling transcription, is set the grammar/spelling checker language to English for that document, which may not be optimal depending on what you want. We’re working for support for more languages in the future.

    Sorry Tracy - tried that solution and it didn't work. Still getting the problem below: No option to upload files from anywhere else.

    I had the same problem. Has anyone found the answer please? Working in English from the start so that is not the problem

    I'm having a similar issue. I see the transcribe menu choice and when I click it, a microphone appears at the bottom of the page and the frame to the right -- where I would expect to see the upload file option -- just has triangles with exclamation marks.

    Can you please help me fix this?
