Do I really need to purchase an additional security subscription in order to use my MS 365 subscription?

I purchased a MS 365 Personal subscription when I bought my MacBook laptop last week. I tried to activate the subscription and although the screen message said it was redeemed successfully, I also got an error message saying that setup couldn't start and someone from the Support Team would call me. The error code was 30145-4 and said something about Network XML. When the person from the Support Team called me, he said we had to purchase a security subscription of $299/2 years in order for MS 365 to work on the computer. Without buying the additional security, MS 365 could not be activated. Is this correct? Because at this time, I can't use MS 365 on my MacBook but it said my product key has been redeemed. Any insight is appreciated.

    Hello 24hrs Manto, Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community. Let's start by answering your most important point first:

    There is no such thing as subscribing to a security subscription in order to activate Microsoft 365. So this is most likely a scam. Normally, all you need to do is download Microsoft 365 and sign in to the account that has the subscription.

    Regarding the problem you are experiencing with activating Microsoft 365, I need to know the following information to understand your situation in more detail, which will help to find a more accurate solution:

    • What is the system version number of your MacBook?
    • Where did you purchase your Microsoft 365 subscription, the Apple AppStore or the official Microsoft website, or a third party?
    • Please login to your Microsoft account homepage:Microsoft account | Sign In or Create Your Account Today – Microsoft and select Services & Subscriptions to see if your subscription is shown here;

    I look forward to your reply and I will give you further support as soon as possible based on your reply.
