Win 11 24H2 on MSI X870e mobo that employs the ALC4080 Audio Codec.

RealTek HD Audio Manager had 'disappeared' as part of the migration from Win 10. which was too bad because it worked as intended.

Troubleshooting:

  1. WUpdate is current.
  2. Uninstall all Audio devices from Dev Mgr.
  3. Uninstall all RealTek software.
  4. Reboot
  5. Download and reinstall RealTek Audio driver from MSI mobo product support page.
  6. Get RealTek Audio Console from MS Store.
  7. Audio Console will not launch due to subject error.

Background:

Just installed new graphics card and noticed I could not re-establish the RealTek Digital Audio output in 5.1 channel; only 2-channel. Typically, this was done in the old Realtek HD Audio Manager with all its bells and whistles but now it is nowhere to be found. Ok, that's odd. So tried to start over from scratch but it's broken as described above.

There seems to be a lot of issues with the RealTek Audio (Manager|Console|Control) panel in Win 11 and the length of that time leaves me questioning whether this mobo will get RMAd.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

Which method did you use to migrate to Windows 11? Windows Update, Installation Assistant, or using the Windows 11 ISO?

Also, please share a screenshot of your system information.

(You've already provided some of your PC's specifications. However, some details were not covered.)

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    I await your reply.

Nobody told you to install Realtek.com's driver --- r2.83 is 6.0.1.8186 from 2017. You can see it in the readme file download (a separate download) from realtek.com. I already told you that you have a realtek usb audio chipset which use completely different drivers.

I told you to download MSI's realtek audio driver and install using the setup.exe. Then run Microsoft Store, the realtek audio console will be automatically bought for you. If you still see rpc error, then go to task manager and make sure all realtek audio services are enabled on startup.

ALC4080 never had realtek hd audio manager to begin with. It's a Realtek USB audio chipset --- the drivers are 6.3.xxxx or 6.4.xxxx. They don't have the "normal" realtek hd audio 6.0.xxxx.1 drivers.

Install your MSI realtek audio driver with the setup.exe and then run microsoft store to pull the realtek audio console app. If RPC error, then go to task manager and make sure in the startup tab you have all the realtek audio services enabled on start up.

You won't get 5.1 audio in spdif because microsoft/realtek/msi never pay dolby any money for dolby digital.
