Hi,

I am as a respondent in microsoft forms, but I don't know if there is a 'save and continue later' button because I filled in a hurry. Usually other forms has a copy in email after we fill it, so I don't mind the button. But, now I have to change some of the fill but I can't edit it again because I have close the tabs so it the new tab. Can you help me to open that so I can edit it again or other suggestion so I can change the filling without tell the owner because it's still not 24 hours and the forms is not close yet?

Thank you,

Sab

Dear @Syifa Munir,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community.

I understand your situation, and it can be difficult when you need to make changes to a form submission but can no longer access it. Unfortunately, Microsoft Forms does not have a built-in "save and continue later" feature for respondents by default. Once you close the tab, your session is over, and the submission is considered final. A new tab would be a new submission.

The only way a respondent can edit a submission after sending it is if the form owner has enabled the "Allow respondents to edit their response" setting. Even if that were enabled, you would have received a confirmation email with a link to your specific response, which you mentioned you did not receive.

Because of this, there is no way for you to open the form and edit your previous submission on your own without the form owner's help.

For reference: You can now save and edit your survey responses | Microsoft Community Hub

Your only options to change your answers will require you to contact the form owner. I suggest one of the following:

  • Ask the Owner to Re-enable Editing: Explain the situation to the form owner and ask them to enable the "Allow respondents to edit their response" setting. They may be able to provide you with a new, specific link to your original submission.
  • Submit a New Form: The simplest solution is often to fill out the form a second time with the correct information. Then, immediately send a message to the form owner, explaining that you have submitted the form twice and asking them to use the most recent submission and to disregard the first one.

I understand you were hoping to avoid contacting the owner, but since they control the settings that would allow you to edit your submission, it is the only way to resolve this.

I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, and I want you to know that your feedback is incredibly valuable. This is a common request, and the power to influence future product improvements rests with the product development team. I strongly recommend you submit your experience through our official channels: Microsoft Forms · Community

You can submit a new idea or vote on existing one. Our product team is in charge of the site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback. The higher votes, the more attention the related team will pay on, and a lot of the features are developed and improved based on customer feedback. I will also pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for further consideration. Here are a example draft for your feedback:

Request for a 'Save and Continue Later' Feature for Respondents

As a respondent, I would like the ability to save my progress and continue filling out a form at a later time, even after closing the browser tab.

The current process is risky for long or complex forms. If a user needs to step away or gets disconnected, all their progress is lost, which can lead to a negative user experience and abandoned submissions.

Adding a "Save and Continue Later" button would be highly beneficial, allowing users to return to their submission when they are ready. This feature would significantly improve the user experience and likely increase form completion rates, which would benefit both respondents and form owners.

I will personally vote for your feedback to help it gain traction and hopefully, Microsoft will make improvements soon. I want you to know that I wish I had a way to change it for you directly but as a moderator of Q&A forum, my ability to assist is with the existing product functionality and the power to influence its design rests entirely with our product development team. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If there’s anything else I can assist you with, I’m always here to help.

As other users will also search information in this community, your valuable vote will definitely also help other users who have similar queries easily to find the correct channel and useful information more quickly.
