Additional team and channel-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
Dear @Alex Braden,
Good day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!
First of all, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused. I understand how valuable it was to have pinned posts remain at the top of the channel especially for students and teams relying on tools like Kanban Loops and other productivity aids. It’s understandably frustrating when a familiar feature behaves differently than expected, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
To clarify, Microsoft Teams channels do support message pinning. Unlike chats, channels consist of multiple threaded conversations each composed of a base topic and its replies. You can pin either a base topic or a reply, and pinned messages are indicated with a pin icon. Team members, including guests, can pin multiple messages within a channel.
However, unlike pinned chats, pinned conversations in Teams channels do not appear at the top of the conversation feed. Instead, they are displayed in the channel’s information pane, which currently shows only the two most recently pinned conversations. This design reflects how Teams handles threaded discussions, though we understand it may not align with previous expectations or workflows.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we’ve shared it with the appropriate team for further review. In this case, I sincerely recommend you go to Feedback community to vote this similar feedback: (find out similar feedback, if not provide the feedback forum link Ideas · Community). Our product team is in charge of the site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback, The higher votes, the more attention the related team will pay on. And a lot of the features are developed and improved based on customer feedback.
Please notice and accept my apologies that as moderators in the community, we are not supported for the product design and have limited resources for the advanced info for Microsoft products. To help you send your feedback and requirement to the related development team, we have redirected you to the correct path.
Thank you again for your patience and for staying engaged with us.
Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day!
