    Hi Avanish,

My name is Jason and I am an independent advisor and windows user like yourself.

    What Error 49 Means

    • Error 49 = “AADSTS50049” → Microsoft account sign-in failed due to missing or invalid token, this is often caused by: Corrupted Office activation cache
      Incorrect account sign-in

         Network or proxy interference

OEM license not properly linked to your Microsoft account

    Step-by-Step Fix

    1. Confirm the Correct Microsoft Account

    Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services

Sign in with the account that came pre-linked to the laptop

Look for Office 2024 license under “Subscriptions & Services”

If it’s missing, the license may not be properly assigned — contact the seller or OEM.

    1. Reset Office Activation

    Close all Office apps

    Open Command Prompt as Administrator

    Run:

    cmd

    cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16"
    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus
    cscript ospp.vbs /rearm

    Restart your PC

Open Word or Excel → Sign in again with your Microsoft account

    1. Clear Cached Credentials

Open Credential Manager (search in Start)

    Go to Windows Credentials

Remove any entries related to MicrosoftOffice16_Data or Office

    1. Check Date and Time

Incorrect system time can block activation

Go to Settings → Time & Language → Date & Time

    Enable Set time automatically

    1. Use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant

Download Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA)

    Run the Office Activation Troubleshooter

It uses AI-assisted diagnostics to repair licensing and sign-in issues

    If Still Unlicensed

    Contact Microsoft Support:

    https://support.microsoft.com

Choose Office → Activation & Licensing

    • Provide your laptop’s serial number and proof of lifetime license
