alt tab keeps on messing everything up and freezing everything

Whenever I alt tab from valorant it freezes the game and takes about a minute (which didn't take even a second to alt tab on windows 10) to even open up and keeps on freezing whenever I alt tab for more than a few seconds. This also happens with sites where a certain portion of the screen gets frozen when I alt tab back to the site or discord while a bit of left and down corners still function. This issue has always been persisten ever since I updated to windows 11 from windows 10 a few weeks prior and has been ruining my day every single time and even getting me banned due to being afk (since it freezes and I can't hop back on the game) on valorant.

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community, Koi Aoi!

The freezing and slow Alt+Tab behavior after upgrading to Windows 11 is often caused by graphics driver issues, background processes, or Windows 11’s new window management features.

First, update your GPU drivers from the manufacturer’s site (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) or via Device Manager. Second, disable Fullscreen Optimizations for Valorant: right-click the game shortcut, select Properties > Compatibility, and check Disable fullscreen optimizations. Third, turn off Game Mode and Xbox Game Bar in Settings > Gaming, as these can interfere with performance. Last, check if the issue improves by disabling Snap Assist and animations under Settings > System > Multitasking and Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects.

Does the freeze happen only in Valorant or also when switching between browser tabs and apps? This will help us narrow down whether it’s game-specific or system-wide.

If this helps, please mark the answer as accepted so others can find it too.

    Best,
    Carl
