Where is the xps viewer

Hi Microsoft

I cannot find the .xps viewer on the list of optional features in Windows 11 on my Surface Pro. Other documents will print to a .oxps file but this also will not open.

I have tried a number of conversions of .xps files from the Microsoft store but none have been able to convert these files fully.

The files themselves are from a while ago when banks, credit card companies, etc. used to provide files in .xps format and not .pdf.

I would love to resolve this or at the very least have a conversion of the files to .pdf?

Mike

Go to Settings, System, Optional features, View features. Find XPS Viewer in the list and install it.

xps Viewer install

This took a long time to load, but is thankfully successful.

Many thanks for your help.

The process was...

Settings

System

Optional features (second from bottom)

View or Edit Optional Features

View Features (blue button)

Do you want this app to make changes to your machine? - yes

View features - there is a list

if it is not in here, which it wasn't then there is a...

"see available features" in small blue just under the title

Click "see available features"

Huge list of features presented - xps Viewer at the bottom.

Tick the white box on the right

This displays a blue box at the bottom with "Add (1)" - click this.

The process starts - it can take a long time (there is a progress bar) but it just comes up pale grey with added - no blue button or anything to say complete.

Test with a file - working correctly - woo, hoo - Thanks

n.b. On checking the web, some options on the list require a restart and actually this is a good idea - I did have two files that failed to open and then opened after a restart.

Otherwise, long winded, but hugely successful.

Thanks

M
