Dear Azure Support Team,

I am writing to inform you about an accidental overcharge of approximately ₹4,644.00 on my account. I had access to the $1000 startup credits, but I mistakenly forgot to cancel my subscription before the credits expired.

Although I have now stopped all resources, the charges were still incurred. Currently, my bank account only has ₹1,165, which has resulted in repeated payment failures due to insufficient funds. Additionally, each failed transaction is incurring a charge of ₹23, which is causing further issues.

I kindly request you to:

  • Cancel any active subscriptions associated with my account
  • Waive or refund the outstanding charges, if possible, considering this was unintentional
  • Remove my payment method to prevent any further charges

I would really appreciate your understanding and support in resolving this matter.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Hello Saumava, sorry to hear about the surprise charges. Here’s a quick roadmap to stop the bleeding and get your money back:

Cancel any active subscriptions:

  • In the Azure portal go to Cost Management + Billing > Subscriptions
  • Select the subscription that’s charging you, click Cancel
  • Wait up to 72 hours for the billing cycle to close and receive your final invoice

Cancel and delete your Azure subscription

Turn off any support plan auto-renewal:

  • In the portal go to Cost Management + Billing > Recurring charges
  • Find your support plan, click the ellipsis (…) and select Turn off auto-renewal

Remove your payment method:

  • Go to Cost Management + Billing > Payment methods
  • Select your card or bank account and click Delete

Change or remove a payment method

Request a refund for the over-charge through Azure portal, Here are the steps you can follow to create support requests:

  • Go to Azure portal > Search for Help + Support or https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade/~/overview
  • Click on Create a Support Request.
  • On right-side panel, enter Billing and click Go > select the issue with "Billing" > select your Subscription then click Next. User's image User's image

Dear Dutta

Based on your description, this appears to be an Azure billing and subscription matter related to expired startup credits and unintentional charges. Please note that Azure provides Billing and Subscription Management support at no additional cost, and such cases must be reviewed directly by the Azure Billing Support Team.

To proceed, kindly open a billing support case using the official Azure Support portal by following the link:
