Teams Workflows – channel-wide mention / notification option

Hello,

I’m using Microsoft Teams Workflows to schedule recurring messages in a channel.

I need to:

  • Post a monthly message in a Teams channel
  • Notify all members of the channel (like @channel / @everyone)

Current limitations:

  • No option in Workflows to mention all channel members

Questions:

  1. Is there any supported way in Teams Workflows to notify all channel members?
  2. Is there an equivalent of @channel / @team planned or available?
  3. Any recommended approach for recurring announcements that notify everyone in a channel?

Thanks in advance,

Regards

Dear @Rodrigo,

From your message, I understand that you are using Teams Workflows to schedule recurring posts in a channel, and you would like these messages to notify all members (similar to @team or @channel).

You've correctly identified a current limitation that Teams Workflows (powered by Power Automate) does not natively support @channel or @team mentions in automated messages. Only individual user mentions are currently supported.

While direct @team/@channel mentions are not supported in Workflows, here are some alternative options:

1/ Use Teams Tags:

Create a tag add users to it, and mention this tag in your message. This is the closest available option to notify a group of users.

2/ Post as a user + manual mention

In some cases, posting messages as a user instead of a bot may allow adding mentions manually, depending on your setup.

3/ Combine Workflow with manual follow-up

Use Workflows for scheduling, and complement with a quick manual @team mention if needed.

4/ Use the Microsoft Graph HTTP request action in Power Automate to post a message with a channel-wide mention.

This requires a slightly more advanced setup but is fully supported. You can find detail from this article: Automating @Team Mentions in Microsoft Teams with Power Automate

    Dear @Rodrigo,

Currently, Microsoft Teams Workflows does not support automatic @channel, @team, or @everyone mentions in scheduled workflow messages. This is a known limitation of the Workflows/Power Automate integration with Teams.

As a workaround, many organizations use:

    Scheduled posts without mentions

    Power Automate with adaptive cards

Tag mentions (if available in your Teams setup)

    Manual announcements for important notifications

At this time, there is no officially supported equivalent to Discord-style @everyone notifications in recurring workflow posts, but Microsoft may expand this functionality in future updates.

    Regards
