Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I have seen other threads with people having the same issue, however even their issues have not been solved although all the threads seem to be locked.
On random occasions when I'm searching for something via Edge's search/address bar, I will be initially directed to a google search URL, however will be immediately redirected to Bing, which is very frustrated at this point.
I have the newest version of Edge to date. I have checked and negated the existence of any malware. I have tried with no extensions installed. I have made sure that Bing is not even mentioned anywhere in my search engine settings (Google is the only search engine used).
This also happens with Yahoo although I have noticed it is less common to occur than it is with Bing.
I would appreciate it greatly if someone would be able to help!
Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 10

This was happening to me but I figured out my problem. Personally, when testing a search for this problem or internet problems, my go-to search is "dog". After fixing the problem and changing all my settings to google, I typed in dog again and it always took me to bing. I realized what is happening is that when i typed in "dog", it automatically took me to the bing site that was in my history. So, I tried using "cat" and it finally took me to google because I had never searched that before. I cleared my history and it works for everything now. You should make sure that you are searching something that wouldn't be in your history, or just clear your history and see if that works.
There's no option to delete Bing.
In Manage search engines->
add a new one and name it ex:
myGoogle and add:
{google:baseURL}search?q=%s
in the url
and set it as default
This is still a critical bug. Makes Edge unusable. I've been trying to contact someone for months on this but no one seems to care...
Howdy again John,
After a few hours of use, I have now realised that the problem is persisting, even after trying all of the previous steps.
Any further help would be appreciated.
