    Hello Danny,

Thank you for sharing your concern with us here in the Microsoft Community.

Since you're using Windows 10 Pro (which includes built-in Remote Desktop), here’s the easiest way to connect:

Step 1: Enable Remote Desktop on Host PC

    1. On the PC you want to access (Host):
    • Press Win + R, type sysdm.cpl → Enter.
    • Go to the "Remote" tab.
    • Select "Allow remote connections to this computer".
    • Click "Apply" → "OK".

(Optional: If you want to wake the PC remotely, enable***"Wake-on-LAN"***in BIOS.)

Step 2: Find Host PC’s IP Address

    1. On the Host PC, open Command Prompt (Win + R → cmd).
    2. Type:

    cmd

    ipconfig

    • Note the IPv4 Address (e.g., 192.168.1.100).

(If the PC is on a different network, you’ll need itspublic IPor use a VPN.)

Step 3: Connect from Remote PC

    1. On the Remote PC, press Win + R, type:

    cmd

    mstsc

    (This opens Remote Desktop Connection.)

    1. Enter the Host PC’s IP (e.g., 192.168.1.100).
    2. Click "Connect" → Enter the Host PC’s username & password.

Done! You should now be controlling the Host PC remotely.

    Troubleshooting Tips

    🔹 If connection fails:

    • Make sure both PCs are on the same network (or use a VPN).
    • Check Windows Firewall allows Remote Desktop (Control Panel > Firewall > Allow an app).
    • If behind a router, forward port 3389 to the Host PC.

    🔹 For external (Internet) access:

    • Use TeamViewer (free for personal use) or Chrome Remote Desktop (simpler setup).

    Best regards,
