why is it people cant just give me a straight answer? what is so difficult in saying i dont know, and letting someone else answer it? or just giving the answer? could it be that i already KNEW that information? sheeesh

Actually, Malkeleah's answer is as straight as they get. It is a significant security risk to do what the website is asking.

I am surprised that a subscription-based website would use an insecure authentication method.

If you REALLY want to do it and trust that website IMPLICITLY, you can make an exception in Internet Explorer's security settings for that site.

In IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Security

Click on "Trusted Sites" then the Sites button.

Click "Add" to add this site to the trusted sites list.

If your site does not have "https" at the beginning of the address, uncheck the box at the bottom about server verification.

You may need to restart the browser.

OH i've been to the site before, and it's never given me any problem's.  if there was ever a doubt, i would have just gottem my money back.

OK,

The problem is much more likely with IE 8  and that particular website than with W7.

Windows 7 doesn't really care what browser you use and has no effect on how they display websites

Have you tried Compatibility View? Just click on Page>Compatibility View and it will reload that way. Worth a try.

I didn't mention this before, but I assume you checked your AV and firewall settings to make sure it was not being blocked.

If that doesn't work for you, since you are stuck there (can't run IE7 on W7) have you tried FireFox?

I run both browsers because some sites just don't quite work right in IE.

I would use the latest beta (I do) that you can get here.

Good luck.

Your browser is warning you that the website is not providing encryption for your username and password. This means that the website could be a phishing site or has been compromised and your login information can be stolen. It would be extremely rash to enter the login information. Contact the website's tech support for help with their site.

If you'd like us to check out the site for you, you'll need to provide the URL - not your login information!

thank you for the (well written) straight answer, but that did not work. i'm starting to think it's a problem with windows 7...

AND actually, malkeleah's answer was anything BUT straight... meaning it had nothing useful in it, not that it wasn't directed at the question.
