Hi tbrown26,

  1. Do you have the updated drivers for the display devices?

**Method 1:**To determine if the time loss is a result of a weak computer battery:

a. Click Start, point to Programs, and then clickMS-DOS Prompt.

b. At the command prompt, type time, and then press ENTER.

c. Compare this time with the time that is reported by the clock on the taskbar.

d. Type exit, and then press ENTER.

If the computer's time and the time on the clock are different, the computer's battery may be too weak to keep accurate time, and it should be replaced. For information about how to replace the battery, refer to the documentation included with your computer.

Method 2: You may check if changing the power plans and settings for power management assist you resolve the issue.

Refer to the below links for assistance –

**Method 3:**If the issue persists I would suggest you to update the BIOS of your computer with the latest available from the manufacturer of your computer and also update the drivers for the video card along with the chipset drivers.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

    Him

Do you face this issue when you start the computer after a shutdown?

One of the reason of the CMOS is to keep the clock running when the computer is not running.  So if the clock stops when the computer does, then it's probably because it's not getting power.

First, I would suggest you to restart the time service and check the issue. Follow these steps:

    a.  Click on Start, type in s ervices.mscin the search bar.

    b.  Look for Windows Time servicein the window that opens up.

    c. **** Stop the service and restart it.

    Check the issue.

Hmmm... If neither the drivers nor the bios have changed in years, and the battery on the motherboard is good, then what are the options for the cause? - thanks

I believe that Microsoft 'just can't face up to the facts' that Windows 7 HAD  (since they are going to de-support it soon). a time/sync sleep bug   Instead try this solution which works for me.:
