Not sure if you've solved this yet, but i've found a solution for this.
Have confirmed following solution on the same combination of windows 8.1 and the Comfort Curve 3000. I've had the same issue.
Turns out it is to do with USB Selective suspend, but can't be turned off just by changing the power settings. You'll need to also change the registry entry too.
My solution is based on what i found here:
A few modifications to that method:
- While in Device Manage > Human Interface Devices, unplug and re-plug the keyboard and see which entry appears, this will help identify the entry a bit quicker than the method suggested in the link
- Your VID and PID will, but the instance number won't match what is shown in the Device Instance Path. However, in the registry, you'll only find one instance associated with the VID and PID. So ignore the number and edit the EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled entry for that instance.
- Make sure you remember to plug and replug the keyboard afterwards
The above link and the modifications i've listed above solved the problem in my setup.
