Critical hardware error

Anonymous

Hi all,

I usually use my PC for gaming, and have today had 3-4 different full crashes. These crashes cause a flickering grey screen and audio looping.  Immediately after the first crash I have been observing CPU and GPU temperatures to make sure it isn't an overheating issue.

I have three hardware error reports from today:

I'm really not sure what to do, I'm concerned my GPU is failing, as I cannot seem to find any issues with my monitor or cables. I'm in the process of updating drivers to see if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Right.

Tried updating chipset, loaded defaults from bios and now it won't recognise my m.2 ssd which is my default boot drive.

It loads to bios with uefi enabled and to a screen prompting me to insert a boot drive when in legacy.

    I'm now very stuck.

    Hi,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

It is custom built, the motherboard is a EVGA X99 Micro V2.

    I'll try updating drivers.

    Thanks

    Scot

    Hi Scott

Your GPU is not failing . . .

You are on the right track by suspecting your GPU device drivers . . .

If updating your video card device driver does not resolve this, go to the support page for your device on the manufacturers website, then download and install the video driver they recommend, it may well be an older version to the one you are currently running, it will however, be compatible . . .

    Hi Scot

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

What is the exact make and model?

    Open Start, type: system information

    Hit Enter

    Click System summary

    Look in the right pane

Copy the system sku info into reply here.

    See example: https://imgur.com/qzektpA

If its custom-built, what is the make and model of the motherboard?

Its possible you might need to update your BIOS and chipset drivers to improve stability.
