    Hi Wendy,

Windows Defender will not function with any other antivirus, that is REGISTERED.

MalwareBytes is compatible with Windows Defender, only when it is not registered.

If Bitdefender is properly installed and registered, Windows Defender will be

disabled, by design. This is to prevent conflict.

However, if you wish to use Bitdefender as your Real-Time protection, Windows

Defender can be placed into Passive Mode, using the "Limited Periodic Scanning

    switch.

In Passive Mode, Windows Defender can be used for scans only. The Real-time

    protection is disabled.

To place Windows Defender into Passive Mode, you must turn "ON" the

"Limited Periodic Scanning" switch in Windows Defender. It is located on the

"Virus & Threat Protection screen. You must scroll down to see it.

The switch is only present if "another" anti-virus program is present.

Please see the following link:   https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/windows-defender-antivirus/limited-periodic-scanning-windows-defender-antivirus

Having Windows Defender available for scans is especially convenient, since you

have access to the Windows Defender OFFLINE program.

    Good luck,  Glen

    Hi Wendy

When BitDefender is installed it will automatically turn off Windows Defender (Passive Mode)

However, Windows may at a later stage turn on Defender and those actually can co-exist and run side by side

It is not a good idea to have the two running side y side, because they will basically be fighting each other for control of your system and that will result in a loss of performance on your PC

Two or more Anti-Malware product could not work together as real-time , so if you run Bitdefender and real-time protection is build into it, then it will turn off Windows Defender but Windows Security Center still shows status of Bitdefender like if it is on and update.

    Hi RosyHat,

Any other antivirus that is installed and registered will disable Windows Defender.

Even MalwareBytes which famously runs in concert with Windows Defender, will

disable Windows Defender if MalwareBytes is registered.

I cannot determine if BitDefender offers this same characteristic or not. See if

you can arrive at that conclusion. See the following.

    https://www.bitdefender.com/support/faq-about-the-integration-with-microsoft-windows-defender-atp-1994.html#q1

As far as I can see there is no mention of Y6.   Gravity Zone Ultra Security is touted, but

it appears that it is supported only by Mac or Linux.      Try searching the internet.

As previously stated in this thread, the Limited Periodic Scanning button will allow

Windows Defender to function, but only in passive mode, in concert with BitDefender.

Only for scans. Real-time protection will be turned "off".

Two "active" antivirus programs running at the same time will cause conflict.

There will be degradation in your PC's performance,    at best.

    Regards,  Glen
