Timezone not automatically updated

Hello everyone,

I am often travelling with my computer. I have activated the automatic time/date and the automatic timezone. However, the timezone is generally not updated.

The only time that the timezone has been updated is when I connected my computer to my phone Wifi hotspot. When I came back at home, connected to home Wifi, timezone stayed the previous one.

I have manually click on the button to update the time/date, but it didn't help.

How the timezone is updated? I believe it uses the location, doesn't it? I have activated the location in Windows. I also tried to connect to Microsoft account website and check the location of my computer. It is correctly reported at the right place (and I could see the icon in the taskbar) but it didn't change the timezone:

How to make the automatic timezone work?

Thank you for your help :)

    Hi yoanpg,

    1. How does it work?
    • Auto Time Zone Updater - Automatically sets the system time zone.

    http://revertservice.com/10/tzautoupdate/

    1. Does it use the IP address to know the location?
    • Yes, it does. A time zone is determined by your IP address using IP geolocation methods.
    1. So a VPN (connected to another country) has an influence on it?

Most people just set their "Time" to set Automatically, and most people do not set their "TIME-ZONE" to set automatically. In the latter case, your time would change, however as most people set VPNs using either software (apps) or manually via a Dial-Up,(both methods connect via Dial-Up) hence it doesn't change the time. But if all the time and time zone settings are set AUTOMATICALLY, and most importantly, if you configure VPN in your router or tethering device instead of PC, in that case, time will change in case you have set both time and time zone to set automatically and not manually. In some cases, it may need a restart if your connection is of On-Demand type rather than a continuous type.

    3. Right-click and select properties.

I have done it. Let's see next time I'm travelling.

For my knowledge, how does it work? Does it use the IP adress to know the location? So a VPN (connected to another country) has an influence on it?

    Thank you
