How do I access the Sfcdetails.txt file in Windows 10?

I understand:

Ref: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Note The Sfcdetails.txt file contains details from every time that the System File Checker tool has been run on the computer. The file includes information about files that were not repaired by the System File Checker tool. Verify the date and time entries to determine the problem files that were found the last time that you ran the System File Checker tool.

My questions are

  1. Where is this file?
  2. what is the secret to open it?

    Elise,

    Thank you for the assistance.  My results were;

When I reentered the command, the cursor moves to the next line.  No error notice is displayed.  After a couple of minutes wait time, neither was the sfcdetails.txt file.

I then ran the sfc /SCANNOW command twice followed by the sfc /VERIFYONLY twice with notifications that   Maybe the sfcdetails.txt file isn’t created until a violation is found?

Since I ran both commands twice without reports of violations, It appears my anticipated need to view the details is mute and I don't need to pursue them any further.

Thanks again, sorry about the false alarm.

    Charles

Hi, I'm Elise, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

From command prompt if you run the following command:

    findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
