My Logitech Speakers Stopped Working

I had some inexpensive Logitech speakers I plugged into the audio jack on my Dell. All of a sudden they stopped working. I went to the Windows sound section in settings--they weren't even recognized. However, they work in other devices. I tried headphones. They didn't work either. I thought the port had become damaged. A Dell tech had me update drivers--and they worked, but just for a few hours. Now I can use the speakers for a few hours, then I get kicked off and have to reboot. I reboot again and again.

A Microsoft tech wanted to "experiment" by deleting a whole bunch of drivers, but the last time I did this, I ended up with an unusable machine. They shrugged, said the machine must've been damaged, and told me I could repair it on my dime, or buy a new one.

Anyone have any suggestions not involving random deletions?

Richard, I'm happy to help but I'm sorry I didn't get to help you earlier because, during 12 years in forums, I've always been able to get speakers fixed with the correct repairs. I have also never messed up anyone's PC, won the highest award in the tech field ten years in a row for helping in forums.

    Best wishes.

Thanks. I appreciate your advice. However, after all the new drivers and other changes, nothing works. Also, I find it hard to believe that a massive driver error changed occurred in an 8-hour period. My guess, based on many years of working with computers, is that something just plain broke. It's simply a damaged machine and I'll have to wait until I'm ready to buy a new one. I can't spend anymore time on this. Nor can I risk any additional tweaks to the drivers--one small mistake in this area and my computer turns into a $750 doorstop.

Thanks anyway--but I'll make do with the internal speakers.

-Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!

-Keep everything up to date with the system (right click start, settings, update and security, check for update. Also visit the video card/mother board/BIOS manufacturer's website to see if there are any drivers to update)

Well, with these kinds of problems, we can find the cause simply. First, let's simply let Windows reinstall the generic sound drivers:

-Let Windows reinstall all generic sound drivers:

Windows +X, Device Manager, under Sound Controllers, right click on all drivers, Uninstall. Under Audio Inputs and Outputs, right click on all Drivers, Uninstall. Restart the PC.

If that doesn't solve the problem, test your speakers over a period of time on another Windows 10 device, for a few hours, to see if it works without problems.

And if possible, also test another speaker for a while on your laptop.

    Let me know the results.

-Feel free to leave your opinion, marking as answered if the answer helped, or leaving more details so that we can continue the service, this is very important to us.

    Graciously,

    Claudeir
