Could anyone help me solve my 0xc000007b issue?

I'm trying to run Assassin's Creed Syndicate and I keep getting the aforementioned error. I've tried everything, installed all the runtimes, Directx, C++ redists etc, ran sfc /scannow, and I've been messing around with .dll files all day. I want to solve this issue once and for all; this is not the first I've faced this error since I got this new PC, but last time I solved it by manipulating a few .dll files.

I'm no expert. I've managed to use Process Monitor to capture what happens the moment I start the game, and saved the logfile here, but I can't really tell what the culprit is. You can cut down on irrelevant entries by using filters to remove SUCCESS ones and entries that don't involve .dlls. Could someone with more knowledge take a look for me please? It would mean a lot.

Hi,

Delete the DLL's local copy (i.e., in the Game folder).

Rename c:\Windows\System32\d3dx9_43.dll to d3dx9_43.dll.old.

Then download d3dx9_43.dll and place it in Windows\System32.

    Hi BossDweeb,

No I hadn't actually. Thank you for your suggestion! Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem though.

My new PC has the following specs:
    Intel Core i5-12600K

    MSI PRO Z690-A

Asus TUF Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB

    16GB RAM

As for the game, I initially installed it from Epic Games/Uplay (they gave it away for free a few months back) but for testing purposes and to rule out any issues with Epic Games or Uplay's installers, I'm currently working with a pirated version. Both versions had the same issue.

You mentioned installing DirectX. The report shows a problem locating (name not found) d3dx9_43.dll.

If you are able to locate this file in System32 it may be corrupted.

Did you install\re-install DirectX using this installer package ? - Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX Redist (June 2010)

If not, doing so may fix the problem. The DX Redist (June 2010) installer will overwrite all DX9,10,11 files and fix any corrupted files in the process.

( The DX Web Installer cannot fix corrupted DX files. This only installs 'missing' files, and cannot fix corrupted DX files.

The old DX9.0c installer which is too often suggested does not have the newer versions of DX9,10,11.

d3dx0_43.dll is the last of the 'new' DX9 files. )

    • Failing that... What brand and model cpu and graphics processor does your machine use, and what is the source of your

copy of the game Steam, disc, or... ?

    .

Naturally. That's how I learned to do everything I mentioned I've been doing.
