Internet works fine on my PC, but I cannot play online games. Can anyone help?

I can use Google, YouTube, Wikipedia, and other internet tasks, but I cannot play any online games. For some games such as Warthunder and World of Warships, it will let me log in and get into a game, but it will not let me control any ships/planes, and then it kicks me out with a "unable to connect to network" message. Other games like Overwatch and Helldivers I can't even log into. The wifi is not the problem, as nobody else in my household is having this issue. My brother also has a gaming PC and he has been just fine. I have reset my computer, done a DNS flush, turned the firewall on and off, and other futile attempts at resolving this issue. I fixed it briefly by doing the CMD command sfc /scannow. It gave me a message along the lines of "there are corrupted files but we cannot fix them. Then I did a restore health command, and that got the scannow command to say something along the lines of "we found the issues and fixed them." That was last night, and I was able to play online games without issue until I went to bed. However, when I went to play games earlier tonight, I was met with the same issue I had the day before. I did scannow again to see if a file had corrupted overnight, but I got the message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." By the way, I am on Windows 11 and this PC is less than a year old.

I am at a loss here so if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, none of those methods worked. The proxy server column was already unchecked. I do not think uninstalling the game would fix anything. It is not just Warthunder that this acting up, it is every single game on my PC. Is there anything else I can try?

    Thanks,

    Corey Denton

    Hello,

Sorry, I could not respond sooner. I tried both the methods you mentioned to no avail. I still have functioning wifi but I cannot play online games. I did the sfc/ scannow one more time and it says nothing is wrong.

    Dear Corey Denton,

Thank you for your quick reply. I'm sorry to hear this news, because many users have reported the same questions as you before. They all use Xbox or run Xbox games. And the game you mentioned also appeared on Xbox, which led me to misunderstand your question.

I noticed that you said "it was briefly repaired by executing the CMD command sfc /scannow". You may try to change a new account or upgrade it in place. I hope they are useful to you:

-In-place upgrade can refresh and repair your system files and keep your original data.

Disclaimer: Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides:

    1. How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

-Create a new account to see if the same problem occurs in the new account.

Press win+R and enter lusrmgr.msc to open Local Users and Groups.

Right-click the Users folder and select New User.

Enter the user name and password, and then click Create.

To the right of the newly created account, select the account type and set it as administrator.

Now go to the newly created local account and see if the problem has been solved.

If the above methods also don't work, please tell me in time. By the way, is your computer a domain-joined device such as a school or an organization?Looking forward to your good news.

    Best wishes

    Dear  Corey Denton,

Hello! Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I'm glad to be able to help you. If I don't understand your question, please let me know immediately.

I understand that your network connection is fine but you can't join any online games. Do you use Xbox? If so, many players did have the same problem as you some time ago, but don't worry, the latest update for this problem has been released. You only need to update your console to solve it. Please go to: Profile and System > Settings > System > Update.

You can refer to the following two posts for details:

Games won’t connect to online features - Microsoft Community

network not connecting for games but everything else - Microsoft Community

I hope the above information can be helpful to you. If you try the solution, feel free to tell me the results or the problems you encounter.

    Best wishes
