People stuck in lobby in MS Teams

I scheduled a meeting in Teams and all of the invitees were guests. I had the option set for everyone to bypass the lobby. Two people were able to join the meeting but the other 10 could not. They were texting me that they were waiting to be admitted but no one was showing waiting on my ( the owner and organizer) screen. What caused this and how do I prevent it from happening again?

Thank you for your help.

    Hi p.t.n.,

I quess our issues have some symptoms in common, but the causes might be different.

We've never had issues with internal or external guests using Teams client or Teams web joining our meetings. (With and also with without lobby confgured.)

We only had the issue that audio dial-in users got stock in a dead-end. They didn't get connected to the Teams Audio nor where they signaled to be sittung in a lobby.

    Regards,

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks again for specifying this. It might not be the same issue considering it was so consistent for your users. We are using Island Mode with Teams only (never used SfB Online). We have hybrid identity, but are still having all users on Lync and Exchange 2013 on-prem (soon to be migrated to cloud). The servers are not configured for hybrid with O365, so the platforms don't know about each other. Maybe this setup could cause issues but I would expect it to be for all meetings instead of being occasional (about 4-5 times since may).

If I I can trouble you with one more question; to confirm, our issue is the scenario below, was this the same for you?

User A (your org) hosts a Teams meeting. No lobby is configured.

User B and User C, both guests with no Teams accounts, joins via supported browsers

User B comes in with no issues

User C get stuck in ghost lobby and User A (host) cannot see nor admit him

If your issue, instead, was that your org users got stuck in external Teams meetings (effectively like User C above), it could mean that our issue is related to Teams configurations on the guest participants end, rather than on our end.

    Hope this makes sense!

    Hi p.t.n,

our issues have been constantly on all users since mid/end of march. In February/early March it was working sporadically.

As the issues mainly occured during day-time our first ticket was closed as infrastructure bottleneck during Corona homeoffice rush.

But later the in end march we've lost the functionality completly and all dial-in bridges got disconnected from the teams meetings. (Also with no signalisation that a user is waiting in the lobby)

I've just checked and our on-prem Skype for Business has been decommissioned in mid march. So there may be a connection here, but it's only a guess.

    Regards,

    Daniel

Thanks for quick response, a couple more questions related to known issues I've reported to Microsoft.

    • Was the meeting organised in a Teams app or using the Teams add-in for Outlook?
    • Does the organiser have more than one Microsoft 365 account?

Hello, it's been a couple months since I've tried to use Teams, due to this issue, but I think I used the Teams app to schedule. I have also used outlook to schedule.

I have a personal Microsoft 365 account also but used the professional account to set up meetings .
