    Hi,

You're right, it is a phishing scam.

Hotmail respects your privacy and would not ask for your personal information.

To learn more about this, please refer to this article:

**How to recognize if the email I have received is genuine or spam/ phishing?**

    Thanks!

    Hi Amelia Airhart,

Thank you for visiting this thread. We sincerely apologize for not being able to answer your concern in a timely manner. I appreciate that you provided us the information that you've received.

That is a scam email circulating that several Microsoft users have received asking them to verify their Microsoft account.

It is designed to gain access to your account so spammers can use it to send out spam. It is not uncommon for you to receive an e-mail from a person or entity that attempts to get your personal information, although may seem legitimate on the surface.

Please do not reply to those kinds of emails and do not follow the link provided. The real Microsoft Support Team will never request password or any other personal information via email or IM. ****We advise you to mark those communications as Phishing Scam.

If you have further questions, please let us know.

    Regards.

    Hi Beth,

I also keep receiving these, but I did fill in the questions above on the first one I received. I did wonder if it was genuine.  I have received about 5 of these with all sorts of strange e-mails asking for help to help mail loads of U.S.dollars to people.  I am getting quite worried about this.  I have now looked at the article that you describe.

I saw the same email, I agree it looks like a scam. Why would Hotmail team ask for username and password etc...
