Office 365 for Mac - Error Code -17199

Hi

I am running MS Office 365 on a Mac.  I am getting an error message reading "An unknown error has occurred in Outlook." with details given as "A message in your Outbox could not be sent. The account which created the message cannot be found."  The error code given is -17199.

After a complete failure of the app to send emails (which totally disappeared) and an unsuccessful MS support attempt, I, with Apple's assistance, removed and reinstated my email account.  That has enabled me to send emails, but I have the alert triangle at the bottom right corner of the app screen.  When I click on it I get the above message.  The triangle ia continuously present, but the error messages seem to come in only at some times and then repeatedly over a It seems to happen at particular times and about 16 times in one minute.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Firstly, check if there is the same issue if you send emails from the outlook web app. If you also have this issue in the web side, check if you can see the Outbox folder and delete all emails in the Outbox folder on the web side.

If the web side is ok, open Outlook and try following steps:

  1. On the Outlook menu, select the Work Offline option to let Outlook works in offline mode.
  2. then delete or move all emails in the Outbox.
  3. after that, go to the Outlook menu, make sure that Work Offline is not checked, try sending a new email to see how it goes.

If the issue continues to occur, create a new test profile and add your account in the new profile to check this issue. For detailed steps, see:
