Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
I contacted Outlook Support for Mac as you suggested. These are the directions they sent me which worked. I'm posting them here for anyone else who may run across this problem:
If the Outbox is not showing on your application, please. follow the steps below to enable the Outbox.
• Open Outlook make it 'Work Offline' (by navigating to Outlook menu bar> Outlook> Work Offline).
• Quit and restart Outlook. (Now there would be no active connection to the server)
• Send a test email to yourself (This email will get stuck in Outbox as Outlook is Offline).
• Go to the Outbox folder and delete all the emails in it. (Note: Move important emails to 'Drafts')
• Now switch to 'Work Online' and try sending a test email to yourself.
If issue persists, even after clearing Outbox folder and the trash folder. Let’s search for the attachment in Outlook and delete them. To do so refer to the steps below:
- Tap on the Outlook Search bar
- The search ribbon opens up
- Click on attachments --> greater than 10 MB
- This will open up a search bar. In that change the size from 10000 to 30000 (depending on your attachment size).
- In the search ribbon change the selection to "All Mail" - 4th button from top left in the ribbon
- Check if it shows the email which is listed on the sync error window were you see error details and delete it and empty trash folder. (Search for email with subject 'Shown in the sync error window'’).
If you still face the same issue, try searching the email using advanced search in Outlook application and check if that helps locating the email causing the issue.
Click on Search tab> Select 'Advanced', query should 'Subject' - 'Contains' ---> 'Subject 'Shown in the sync error window', click on the '+' icon, size - 'is greater than' -- '10000' and the list will be listed below, search for the email again and delete it. Make sure that the email is completely removed from the application as well as the computer.
Thank you for your prompt response and suggestions.
