I have the same issue. The only option it allows is to set or clear the flag. No dates. The ribbon customisation does not work either as the icons like "Flag: Due date" come into the ribbon as inactive/greyed out.

There is a workaround. Click and hold on the email and drag it over the "Tasks" icon in the side-bar. That will create a new task with the email in the contents. You can then set start and end dates, priorities etc as per any normal 'task'.

Outlook developers need to re-assess their decision to remove the old functionality. I believe it was a poor decision.

One issue some people may be having is that the New Outlook apparently has lost the functionality to flag a message for follow-up using a specific date. When you flag a message, the options are Today, Tomorrow, This week, Next week, or No date.

Apparently New Outlook's design team decided that folks just didn't need to have unlimited options when flagging messages.

You can create a To Do task for a message set to a specific date with a reminder, but this is separate from flagging a message for follow-up.

Why did Microsoft make this change? I have no clue. It has generated numerous complaints.

    Dear old user 2022,

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your desciption, do you mean that you cannot find the following icon in the screenshot in your outlook?

If so, please be kindly to try the following steps and check if these can make any difference.

    File>Options>Quick Access Toolbar

If you cannot see Add Reminder button directly, choose All Commands in choose commands from and then find Add Reminder and click it. Then click Add and OK. If you can see Add Reminder but you can not see Due Date only, skip the above steps and follow the next steps.

    File>Options>Quick Access Toolbar.

If you cannot see Add Reminder button directly, choose All Commands in choose commands from and then find Flag: Due Date and click it. click Add and OK.

After te above steps restart your outlook and check if you can use these options successfully. If this still doesn't work, please be kindly to provide me your outlook version by clicing File> Office Account> About Outlook. I will continue to help you based on the information ou provide. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day.

Apparently, this option is only available on certain email accounts, namely Exchange accounts from what I have gathered. I have three email accounts set up as IMAP accounts through Ionos and several Gmail accounts. This feature is not available with those accounts.

    Is there a fix???
